Row 23: For the 23rd row, crochet only the front loops of the stitches of the 21st and 22nd rows at the same time. There were 36 stitches on row 21, there were 30 stitches on row 22, which means that there are 6 front loops on row 21 that you will have to skip (one at the end of each of the 6 sectors). To do so, crochet:

Tighten all stitches. Cut the yarn but be sure to leave a very very long end, which is absolutely necessary for the following step. To make the mushroom’s stipe stand straight, we will sew it into shape. To do so, insert the needle into the 36th row and make the needle come out from the first row crocheted with milky white yarn, just under the cap. Then, insert the needle back into this first row and make the needle come out from the 36th row of the stipe.
Sew back and forth all along the circumference of the stipe. This will create a kind of hole at the base of the stipe, so that it can stand straight. Fasten and cut the yarn, hiding the end inside the stipe.
Connect yellow yarn and sew the cap into shape, inserting a needle into the last row that is crocheted with yellow yarn, and pulling it out of the top. Here, we need the stitches on top of the cap to remain invisible when the needle goes back to the base of the cap. To do so, insert the needle back into the very same ‘hole’ from which it came out, and pull the needle out of the base of the cap. Then, insert the needle into the next stitch on the base of the cap. Sew back and forth along the circumference of the cap, making sure that the stitches stay invisible on top of the cap. Fasten and cut the yarn, hiding the end inside the cap.
